Conference Proposal Award

Education Graduate Students’ Society (EGSS)

13th Annual Conference, McGill University

DEADLINE: March 7, 2014 (before midnight)

PURPOSE: In honor of the 13th annual Education Graduate Students Conference, three awards will be given for a paper or poster proposal that represents academic excellence and innovative ideas in education-related research.

Doctoral Best Paper Proposal Award ($250)

Master Best Paper Proposal Award ($250)

Best Poster Proposal Award ($100)

The winners of these awards will be announced at the wine and cheese reception held on Saturday, March 22, 2014

ELIGIBILITY: All first authors of a paper proposal are eligible, who are Masters or Doctoral students, as long as they complete the award application requirements described below.

EVALUATION: Award applications will be evaluated through a blind review process by a panel of conference reviewers. These evaluations will be based on the following criteria:

  • Appropriateness and relevance of topic to the conference theme
  • Clearly established theoretical and/or conceptual orientation
  • Research design and methodology (if applicable)
  • Implications of the findings or conclusions
  • Originality of ideas
  • Organization and clarity of the application

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS: Please submit one Word document in an email attachment to that includes:

  • A title page with your name, affiliation, and contact information,
  • A one-page (maximum) cover letter that should address: the relevance of your proposal to the conference theme how your presentation and work contribute to your specific field of study
  • Conference submission with abstract and 50-word synopsis

IMPORTANT: Please do not include any personal information (name, affiliation, or contact information) in your conference proposal or cover letter for the blind review process. Also, please note that applications that do not follow the requirements face possible rejection during the initial screening.
